The Science of EuroFoam

Find all this confusing?

Here are a few short explanations on some of the terms we use on this site and an explanation of our product and services.

EuroFoam - The two types of EuroFoam available are Open Cell & Closed Cell

Open-Cell Insulation

Open Cell foam insulation is developed specifically for use in homes. It is made up of tiny cells of foam that are not completely closed. The broken cells fill with air, hence occupying all the ‘open’ space inside the material. Open-Cell expands 100 times its original volume, sealing all voids, gaps and crevices. It helps provide a sealed thermal and air tight building envelope, eliminating heat loss and creating a comfortable healthier indoor environment. The thermal conductivity of open cell EuroFoam is 0.037W/mK .

Open Cell Properties
  • 96% Open Cell breathable soft foam insulation.
  • Light Weight and low density.
  • Low Thermal Conductivity 0.037W/mk
  • Certified
  • New and retrofit
  • Domestic and residential applications

Closed - Cell Insulation

Closed-Cell foam differs from its open-cell counterpart in that all of its tiny foam cells are closed and packed tightly together. They are filled with a gas that helps the foam rise and expand to become a greater insulator. It provides insulation to a structure, prevents condensation, and water penetration. Its rigidity provides added structural integrity to your building and it also acts as a secondary moisture vapour barrier reducing the risk of moisture intrusion.

Closed Cell Foam 1600 Properties
  • Semi-rigid spray foam insulation.
  • Semi closed cell.
  • Light Weight and medium density.
  • Low Thermal Conductivity 0.033W/mk
  • Certified
  • New and retrofit
  • Commercial and residential applications
Thermal Conductivity of Closed Cell Foam 1600 0.033 W/mK

Closed Cell Foam 2700 Properties
